Our world is constantly changing. Political instability, the climate crisis, social unrest and the pandemic’s impact are topical in many parts of the world. Social changemakers’challenges are great and their ability to achieve their mission is under pressure. Civil rights are strained in many countries. Funding from Northern donors is diminishing. We see a growing global middle class; while inequality within societies is rising sharply.
Since the 1990s, extreme poverty in the world has been halved. Yet 700 million people still live in extreme poverty. They have to live on less than USD 1.90 a day. This means that millions of brave, strong and hardworking people all over the world are held back by poverty on a daily basis. They give the best they have. But poverty puts them at a disadvantage.
The United Nations describe poverty as “a condition characterized by severe deprivation of basic human needs, including food, safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, health, shelter, education and information.’’
Rapidly changing world
Wilde Ganzen supports social changemakers and their organizations that are fighting poverty by initiating small-scale projects to make a change in their communities.
We believe that these changemakers have a right to knowledge and skills to face these challenges, together with their communities.
Our main focus
- We support small scale projects that fight poverty and bring positive change in communities
- We support social changemakers to increase the results of their work, and promote new ways of ‘doing development’, such as community philanthropy.
